If knowledge was nothing but taught
Then teaching is all that it’s good for,
But if knowledge were actually sought
The source of the knowledge would give more!
We tear things apart just to learn them,
But their meaning we don’t revere
We do it as greedy men,
To further our personal career.
What happened to our thirst?
Why is self-worth first?
To know what you know
Is to not know at all
But simply have looked at
And know what it’s called.
The true thirst for knowing
Is taking your time
Feel that knowledge growing
Straight up through your spine;
Your head shouldn’t fill with useless junk
Nor should it empty as a resting monk
Instead of tearing your subject limb from limb
Allow observations to be made
Begin getting to know it, her, or him
And don’t let your patience be frayed.
Instead of learning to pass a test,
Or be accepted by some “awesome” school,
Learn to start learning all of the rest
That will stop you from acting a fool!
Knowledge’s purpose is to nourish your mind
Not to find jobs for all of mankind!
