DONE.

Junior year is over, and I so excited. Art was great this year, but I do not feel like I accumulated as many paintings as I wanted to. That is fine though because I got to work a while on 3 paintings.

finished. for now.

I think I finally finished my flower painting. I submitted it into the congressional art awards this weekend with a new look to it. It was not as clean cut as I usually do, and I really liked it.

different? no. same.

It is right there.
In front of my eyes and my hands,
there lies what I have longed for.
I want it more than anything,
but I know that it will hurt me more than anything.
Do I reach for it and hope that the good times outweigh the bad?
Do I hope that the dark future will lighten as I reach out?
Do I think that the results will be different than they have been for others?
Am I trully different than the others?
No, the bad will outweigh the good.
The future will stay the same.
The results will prove constant.
And the truth is, I am not different.
There is no exception,
just the rule.

I am going to paint again. I have not painted in a very long time, but I have gotten a second wind. I am going to do it, and I am going to finish by the end of the year.

Art has power.

So a while back I started painting a picutre of my grandpa. I finally finished around Christmas time, and I gave it to him. He is 93, and I know more than ever realize how important it was that i finished it for him to see. He is not doing very well, but I know that every day when he sits in his chair he will see the picture and know how much he is loved. Art has power.

last sunset of the year.

This was the sunrise that we witnessed in Hawaii on New Years Eve. This means that we saw the last sunrise in the United States! It was so beautiful. It took us around 4 hours to climb to see it, waking up at 3 in the morning, and climbing 3,992 steps to reach the top. We hit many near death experances climbing throught the pitch black woods around the cop who patiently waits early in the morning for those who are going to attempt to embark on this journey. But with a handshake and a picture, he congratulated us for going so far up the mountain without using the steps before cutting over. It was an experience to remember.

poem i made up for a game

I have a sister named Liz.
She never liked fiz.
She likes to flirt with boys,
but never treats them as toys.
She has a heart of gold
which can never be sold.

procrastination.

Nothings a scare,
Nothing with which I care.
Feeling good about all
Even though I'm about to fall.
What to do?
Do I continue?
What do I say?
I guess I'll think about it another day.

fail.

As I said there is nothing wrong with failing. Pick yourself up and
try it again. You never are going to know how good you really are until you go
out and face failure.

picture perfect.

To make a picture look realistic is so hard. I am attempting it right now.

favorite quote

“Today I know that such memories are the key not to the past, but to the future. I know that the experiences of our lives, when we let God use them, become the mysterious and perfect preparation for the work He will give us to do. ” ―Corrie ten Boom

showing God's glory (Bible project)

This is a picture I painted for a Bible project. It shows God's glory as God is like a light house to us. He rescues us in the waters of life, and reaches out to help us.

last sunrise of the year

My sister took this picture cause I did not have a camera. It is the last sunrise of the year as it was in Hawaii on New Years Eve. It was beautiful as I had scaled up the mountain for 4 hours to get to the top with 3 minutes left until the sun rose.

one down.

I finished one painting of my grandpa and gave it to him for Christmas. I am now going back to my old flower painting to finish it. I feel like the best way for me to paint and feel content about it is to paint for a while, put it down for a few months, and then come back. I seem to like it in the end better than my other ones, and I think it is because the older I get the more I know.
